District Education Office Mon celebrated National Science Day 2018 under the theme “Science & Technology for a Sustainable Future” on Tuesday at GHSS Mon.
The event sponsored by department of science and technology, Kohima was graced by DC Mon Thavaseelan K, as the chief guest.
In his address, the chief guest called upon the students to utilize time wisely and effectively. He reminded the students that High school and Higher Secondary stage was a time “when mistakes is affordable” as it can be streamlined.
In this regard, he advised the students to take decision wisely on what they want to become in their life. He also encouraged them to work harder so that they can enjoy the fruits of their hard work. To mark the day, painting and speech competitions were also conducted. In painting competition, Rhonkai Konyak, GHSS Mon, Yeangkim, GHSS Mon and Panglem, GHSS Mon emerged as first, second and third respectively. In speech competition, Racheal, GHSS Mon, Chumei GHSS Mon and K. Mathom, GHSS-D stood first, second and third positions. The winner were handed cash prizes and a merit certificates.
