As part of its phase-I agitation against government’s failure to fulfil its demand to review the NSSE and allocate four missing seats to backward tribe candidates, the Eastern Nagaland College Students’ Union (ENCSU) would hold sit-in protest outside the Secretariat Complex, Kohima on August 12, 2016 from 9am to 12 noon. In a press release, ENCSU Chairman Longre Chang and joint secretary Nokchem Angth said the decision was taken at a joint meeting with the Eastern Nagaland People Organizations, Eastern Naga Students Federation, Eastern Naga Women Organization and others at DUDA Guest House Kohima on August 10, 2016. According to ENCSU, the union at the meeting deliberated on the MBBS and BDS issue and subsequently the ultimatum served by the union on state government through chief secretary on July 26, 2016. Stating that the protest would be organized in a peaceful democratic way, the union has sought cooperation from the general public. It also requested all the educational institutions in Kohima to allow the Eastern students to attend the protest. Further, ENCSU has requested the general public of the Eastern Nagaland and other BTs to come forward and support the protest as the issue concerned all the BTs.
