Salman Rushdie celebrates ‘wild’ 65th birthday bash in New York

Salman Rushdie, who survived a fatwa and four marriages, celebrated a “wild” 65th-birthday party at the Four Seasons Restaurant on Tuesday night.
The thrown by Michelle Barish, which was complete with a titillating show by burlesque dancer Hazel Honeysuckle, included guests like hot Hollywood couple Jason Sudeikis and Olivia Wilde, The New Yorker Editor-in-Chief David Remnick and Diane von Furstenberg.
Barish had declined a marriage proposal from the literary lothario in February, who presented her with a 7-carat emerald-cut diamond ring, but apparently the pair are still very close.
“It was an incredible, wild and elegant party,” the New York Post quoted a source as saying.
Guests were reportedly treated to a routine by experimental performance artist Laurie Anderson and kept the posh power-lunch restaurant rocking until midnight.
Each guest received a hollow leather-bound book containing a scroll of Rushdie writings.
Barish and Rushdie dated on and off after her split from Marquee co-owner Chris Barish.
