Kohima Village Youth Organization (KVYO) has stated that it has come to its knowledge that some persons with “vested interest” are contemplating to a youth organisaiton in Kohima. In a press release KVYO vice president Medovihouie Tseikha and general secretary Lhoulievi Belho stated that such a move would be an offense against the organisation.
It further informed that public that Kohima village is bounded by Phesama/Pfuchama towards south, Jotsoma/Mezoma to the west, Chakhabama/Chedema/Rusoma to the east and Merema/Tsiesema to the north. As such, KVYO said the area within the said traditional boundary, be it town or village, belongs to Kohima village. Therefore the organisation said it the one and only youth organisation that”keeps control” of its jurisdiction.
The organisation also informed that colony/ward youth organisations are subordinate organisations of KVYO and no other controlling body would be recognised in Kohima traditional jurisdiction.
It further cautioned that individuals attempting to form a parallel organisation which amounts to questioning of the inherent authority of KVYO in its own jurisdiction would be doing so at their own risk.
