According to DIPR report, flagging off the 15 vehicles for carrying  LED bulb to 58 targeted villages under Kohima district, the DC said that the main objective was to promote “Unnat Jyoti” through affordable LEDs for all (UJALA yojna) and to conserve energy at home, office, commercial institutions by using energy efficient appliances and star labelled products. He impressed upon the beneficiaries to make use of the LED bulb to reduce the load on the transformers, adding that it would also help the environment by reducing carbon footprint. He informed that the individual could avail at the subsidized rate of Rs. 50 per bulb and 3 bulbs per family by producing any of the documents such as aadhar, ration card etc. The teams would reach respective villages from April 24 to May 5.
