
Government High School (GHS) Burma Camp, Dimapur new school building constructed under RMSA Nagaland was formally inaugurated by District Education Officer (DEO) Dimapur, R. Amongla Jamir here on Friday.
Speaking at the inaugural programme as the chief guest, Amongla said “Teachers are the pillars of the nation”. She called upon the teachers and the people to develop close relationships with the students by bridging the gap between students and teachers. She urged the teachers to not take students’ problems in a negative way but urged them to be humble, understand the problems of the students and bring solutions accordingly. The DEO also urged the teachers to go the extra mile in moulding children and give their best with dedication. Amongla appealed to the teachers to make an equal contribution in maintaining the new building and set a good example for the students and public. Earlier, the DEO also unveiled the inauguration plaque.
GHS Burma camp Dimapur, headmistress, Limayangla Tzudir while delivering a welcome note, said that the school had been facing shortage of classrooms in the past, but now with the new building, it was a dream come true for the school.
Presenting a brief history of the school, graduate teacher, Semaho Yeptho said that the school was first started at new market area Dimapur by two brothers from Uttar Pradesh which was later shifted to Burma camp (power house area) after Nagaland attained statehood. He also said that it was recognized as a government school in 1960, and was shifted to the present location in the year 1971. Yeptho further stated that it was the only high school in Dimapur-I constituency and had been upgraded to a high school in the year 2012.
The programme was chaired by graduate teacher, Limatila, invocation was said by graduate teacher, Sentikumla, while a special song was presented by the students.
