Fun Cinemas, a franchise under Cinépolis, located at Burma Camp, Dimapur, near JK Hospital was opened to public after the inaugural prayers were offered by Chakhesang Baptist Church, Dimapur-pastor Rev Dr. Weyiete Lohe.
The theatre screened Ice Age Collision Course during its 6 p.m. movie time and would be screening Great Grand Masti in the later part of the week.
The 66 seat capacity theatre will go 3D in a few weeks time and it boasts of 3D, Screen, 3D projector and Dolby 7.1 Surround Digital Sound system.
The theatre will cater to both Bollywood and Hollywood fans in the city with the first day first shows and will screen four movies in a day with the first one at 11 a.m. and the final movie at 8 p.m.
Proprietor of the theatre Kulo Kenye informed that Cinépolis is a Mexican chain of movie theaters. Its name means City of Cinema and its slogan is La Capital del Cine. Cinépolis is the biggest cineplex chain in Mexico with 214 theaters in 97 cities and it is also the fourth largest distributor of movies in the world.
Kulo further disclosed that tickets to the show was priced at Rs 200, 300 and 500 for the Silver, Gold and Recliners respectively and interested movie goers can book their shows at bookmyshow.com under ‘playbox cinema’.
The proprietor said he had been planning to come up with the theatre for the past five years and that he finally was able to pull it off successfully and that his next plan was make another auditorium so that people would get the freedom of having more choices in picking movies they want to watch.
Kulo cited global cinema business as a growing venture and the numbers in the earnings made by Cinépolis in the past year which had tripled than the preceding year proves the rise in the business and that was also having its impact even in the Northeast region. The theatre gives movie lovers in Dimapur and Nagaland another option with a whole lot of options to choose and have unrestrained fun.
