
Parliamentary Secretary for Youth Resources and Sports, Music Task Force and State Lotteries Khriehu Liezietsu has urged Naga youths to uphold the dignity of labour instead of aiming for only government jobs and other white collared jobs.
He said this while addressing the gathering during the Kohima College Kohima 49th annual freshers’ day as a special guest at its college auditorium, Friday.
Liezietsu said Nagas should also enhance “our” skills and capacity to becoming skilled workers and entrepreneurs adding that this was the only way for state’s economy to bloom as Nagaland has become too dependent on “outsiders”.
He also said it was high time for Naga society and state to become self-reliant and physically and mentally prepare ourselves to do all jobs for the development as well as for daily survival.
Referring the students as the future leaders, Liezietsu advised them to practice and inculcate positive actions and thoughts reminding them that what they sow today would they reap tomorrow.
He also challenged the students to live up to the motto “search for excellence” with hard work and discipline to achieve the goal in life.
Lauding the organisers for hosting the programme without inviting any as chief guest, Liezietsu said such practices should be encouraged.
In his address as guest speaker, Kohima Village Council chairman Medoselhou Keretsü lauded the college for its achievements and producing many eminent persons in the state in various fields.
He challenged the students to prepare for their lives by setting right goal and reminded them that achievement comes by striving hard.
Keretsü also asserted on maintaining “mental peace” and good relationship with others while reminding them that to achieve the set goal one should first seek the wisdom of God.
The programme was led by Hütülü Chüzo, welcome note was delivered by vice principal Kohima College Kohima, special songs were presented by Tsalila and EUKCK, speech on behalf of senior and fresher by Eangchi Konyak and Rubi respectively.
Induction of new officer bearers of KCK was done by Lily Angami assistant professor convenor students welfare committee, blessing and prayer for the new KCSC team and freshers 2016-17was said by Pastor City Church Kohima Kedo Peseyie, speech on behalf of outgoing general secretary and general secretary elect was said by Lhepong Konyak and Nukedu Dawhou respectively. Zhadinuo Rossa and Petsüsetuo Liezietsu were declared as Miss and Mr. freshers respectively and vote of thanks was said by Sungjemmongla woman coordinator KCSC.
The programme was attended by college’s faculty, Kohima village council members, well wishers, 650 freshers students and other college members.
