‘World youth skill day’ observed across Nagaland

Nagaland, joining the rest of the world observed “World Youth Skills Day” Friday across the state by organizing various programmes. 
Dimapur Women Industrial Training Institute (DWITI) organised the world youth skills day cum financial literacy with lead bank, chief manager, S.Besii Bosco, as resource person.
At the programme, S. Besii Bosco stressed on the importance of having a saving bank account and encouraged on saving for a better future. He highlighted the various types of schemes that the Prime Minister has introduced for a skilled person.
He further enlightened the gathering with pradha mantri jan-dhan yojana, pradhan mantri suraksha bima yojana, pradhan mantri jeevan jyoti bima yojana and pradhan mantri mudra yojana (scheme for self employment, entrepreneurship etc.)
Keynote address and significance of the programme was delivered by institute principal Er. Imchen Ao. He also spoke on the importance to spread awareness about the importance of skills and vocational training in achieving sustainable livelihood and consequently adding to the economic growth of the country.
Earlier the programme was chaired by WITI, SK Thungchibemo and short speech on youth skills day as delivered by employability skill, instructor Akhala Kathar.
DDBJP: Dimapur District Bharatiya Janata Party (DDBJP) unit in collaboration with Institute of Advance Computer Technology (IACT) organized a seminar for the first time on soft skills and hard skills on account of world youth skill day Friday at Hotel Saramati. Resource persons of the programme were IACT, Nagaland regional director Laxman Swamy and Sunya consultancy, managing director Rajesh Tanti.
Gracing the programme, retired additional developmental commissioner planning Nagaland & Chairmen of TK Skills, Mokokchung, Dr. Temsuwati in his speech emphasized that apart from traditional education skill development was needed for self employment. 
The seminar was aimed to make the youths focused at the importance of soft skills and hard skills required for becoming self-dependent and contingent. India being a developing country has only 2 % of trained personnel’s in the soft and hard skill sector as compared to South Korea 96 %, Japan 80 % and other European countries. 
And with this regard, he maintained that India was looking to trained additional 119 million trained skilled workers by 2022 under Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana, DDBJP unit along with IACT computer education has initiated to trained 20 youths from various Mandals under Dimapur district. 
The programme was attended from various Mandals, frontals, BJYM, BJMM, Youths and Students from Dimapur district. 
Earlier, the programme was chaired by BJP, Dimapur member Varun Bardewa and later vote of thanks was delivered by DDBJPunit president, L. Bendang Ao.
WOKHA: World Youth Skills Day was observed Friday at Government ITI, Wokha with ADC, Wokha, Hotolu Swu as the chief guest.
According to DIPR report, the chief guest urged the instructors to be sincere and dedicated and help the trainees in order to become successful tradesmen for the benefit of the society.
In a keynote address, government ITI Wokha principal, Er. N. Nyaksham Phom emphasised on the “mission objectives” saying mission seeks to create an end-to- end implementation framework for skill development, which provides opportunities for lifelong learning that includes incorporation of skill, both long and short term skill trainings by providing career progression that meets the aspirations of trainees. 
He also stressed on capacity building for skill development in critical un-organised sectors such as the construction sector, where there are few pathways for re-skilling up-skilling workers in these identified sectors, to enable them to transition into formal sector employment. 
The function was chaired by DEO, Wokha Zuthunglo. During the function best Trainee and Trainer namely Kesalhoukho Casavi and Mhonthung Y. Shitiri were awarded with certificate which was handed over by the chief guest.
TUENSANG: World Youth Skill Day 2016 was observed at Conference Hall GITI, Tuensang with Akhum Chang PGT, GHSS Thangjam as the guest of honour.
According to DIPR report, Akhum Chang shared a documentary based on skill development and its usefulness in recent days. 
 He said that unemployment issues are hitting hard in the current state scenario and many eyeing for government jobs have become frustrated.
 He said that it was high time that the mindset of employment should be changed to ease the way of life. Stating that avenues for employment are all around, Chang said “we” need to emphasis on what “we” are good at rather wasting resources on investing in what we are not good at, he stated. Three trainees of GITI also shared their experiences in the programme.
The function was attended by the staff of the GITI Tuensang, trainees of GITI and students from GHSS Tuensang.
MOKOKCHUNG: Government ITI Mokokchung on Friday observed World Youth Skill Day under the theme “skills development to youth employment.”
On the event Principal stated that on various commercial market survey conducted by ITI in Mokokchung Town reported that on the 1808 shops registered under MMC average salary of sales person was Rs. 2500 per month, 60% and above with educational qualification of 12 passed & above. 
He said the report stated that 64 RCC houses were under construction and with 48 different Workshops. 10% of skilled workers comprised of locals were observed that skilled workers were very few among the locals. 90% of skilled related works were done by non-locals; however unskilled works were mostly done by locals. 
It was also observed that all skilled workers were earning an average monthly income much higher than unskilled workers.
The report gave the findings as: shortage of skilled workers among locals is not due to lack of interest but it is due to non-availability of skill imparting sectors. 
In spite of massive labor demand in the market, skilled workers could not find avenue to work daily. It was concluded that, to bridge the gap between labour market demands and labour it was necessitated to more vocational training with skill placement center.
