Naga Students’ Federation on Saturday directed authority of Indian Institute of Paramedical Technology (IIPT) Kohima, to summon Ranjit Baruah, managing director of IIPT, to NSF office on or before July 23. This was decided during a meeting of NSF officials with IIPT authority, students and parents. NSF president Kelhouneizo Yhome asked IIPTians to submit original documents of the institute to NSF on or before July 18 and shut down the institute till the issue is resolved.
NSF further demanded IIPT authority to withdraw the FIR lodged against the students and cautioned the institute on taking its own course of action if the authority failed to revoke the FIR. NSF further questioned police and IIPT authority for conducting a meeting in the premises of South Police Station Kohima on Friday, terming it as inappropriate, and took serious note of the absence of IIPT principal and police at the meeting on Saturday.
Expressing their plight, IIPT students stated the state government denied any application for recognition from IIPT to the government and felt the institute should close down if it failed to get recognition from the government. Parents and guardians partly blamed state government for its negligence, stating the government had failed to check "open scam" frequently advertised in local dailies.
