PHC building at Merangkong village

Merangkong PHC building was inaugurated by Dr. Imtimeren, principal director, health & family welfare in the presence of Dr. G. Kemp joint director, Dr. Ngangshimeren Deputy Director, Dr.Kika Longkumer Deputy Director and other officials from the department on July 16.
During the brief programme, Dr. Imtimeren, principal director, lauded Merangkong Village Council for donating the new site and the contractors for successful completion of the PHC.
Pointing out the functions and responsibilities, Dr. Imtimeren said the PHC must promote preventive measures through OPD and indoor wards and implement various health programmes.
He called upon the community to make use of the PHC as their own and also encouraged the medical officer and health workers to deliver their service regularly.
He urged villagers and health workers to coordinate to uplift the PHC which in turn will benefit the community, and hoped the PHC would be productive and serve as an example for other health centers.
He assured the department will look into the needs and requirements of the PHC.
Dr. G. Kemp, joint director, exhorted the community to contribute towards the health sector since the government alone cannot achieve communitization.
“Health is more important and everything starts from village level”, said Kemp and encouraged co-ordination between health workers and community for smooth functioning of PHC.
Imdang (Tatar) Putu secretary on behalf of all the villagers thanked the department for looking into the welfare of the community.
The new PHC building with 14 rooms was constructed under NRHM fund amounting to `64 lakhs.
The inaugural programme was chaired by HCMC chairman, welcome speech by CMO, Mokokchung and special number by youth department, Merangkong village.
The programme was attended by programme officers, senior medical officers, and HCMC members, village councils of Merangkong, Asangma and Kangching.
