To review the progress of Swachh Bharat Mission (SBM) in Mokokchung and to frame further course of action for its successful implementation, a meeting of its members was held at Mokokchung on October 7, under the chairmanship of M. Bendangnukshi Longkumer.
A press release by SBM Mokokchung information secretary, Limalenden Longkumer stated that members were satisfied with the progress of SBM, however wanted to further streamline and implement it in a coordinated manner.
It stated that locally relevant programmes could be framed to complement the implementation of the mission, besides finding a solution for solid waste management in Mokokchung. While it decided to engage proactively with the “Mokokchung town 125 years” programme as part of IEC initiative, it also resolved to request the Ao Senden to observe a “one day cleanliness drive” in the whole of Mokokchung district, stated the release.
It further stated that the brand ambassador for Mokokchung and Mon, S. Supongmeren Jamir had entrusted the “district ambassadors” to find ways and means for mobilizing resources at the district level to complement the mission.
The brand ambassador had also met the deputy commissioner Mokokchung and heads of PHED and Urban Development department in relation to SBM, stated the release.
