
One day seminar on “Zeliang customary laws and its practices” was organised by Peren District Dobashi Association (PDDA) on Friday at Deputy Commissioner Office conference hall Peren. In a press release, PDDA president Kurangbe Mpom stated that the seminar was organised with a vision for good governance and efficient delivery of the law of the land, emphasized on the necessity of all conscientious society, to be well versed of the importance of the Customary Law and the obligations to uphold the sanctity of the law of the land.
The resources persons who spoke on various topics with regard to customary law are: deputy commissioner Peren Zarenthung Ezung on “duties and responsibilities of dobashis”, P.F Zeliang IPS, IGP NAP (PHQ) Kohima on “merits and demerits of practicing customary law”, D.K Zeliang IFS, (Retd) PCCF Nagaland, on “preservation and importance of customary law, land and its resources” and CNC, Chaplain Rev. D. Heutui, spoke on “the impact of village administration, culture and traditions with the modern society”.
PDDA said the seminar saw positive participation from dobashis as well as government officials and public leaders from all over the district.
