Apropos news item “MGNREGA employees stage dharna”, published on July 16, the Nagaland state MGNREGA employees association (NSMEA) has clarified that the statement concerning 6% administrative expenditure was misquoted.
In a press release, NSMEA general secretary L.Imtizulu Phom clarified that the 6% administrative expenditure was not meant for the VDBs or job card holders, but for the office expenditure. NSMEA stated no individual or organisation should have any confusion regarding the issue as it has been clearly mentioned in the guidelines of MGNREGA.
The association said it was only suggested that the administrative expenditure should be funded separately and not as part of the total scheme amount.
“Hence, the issue should not be taken any further,” NSMEA stated and apologised to the department of rural development, Nagaland and VDBs for the wrong message conveyed.
