Patanjali Yog Samiti (PYS) Kohima observed International Yoga Day (IYD) at Indoor Badminton Stadium on June 21 with additional director general of police Rupin Sharma as chief guest.
Speaking on the occasion, Sharma said yoga was easy to practice and need not spend money. While highlighting the importance of yoga, he said that yoga was widely accepted abroad with the understanding of its benefits for healthy life.
Deputy commissioner (DC) Kohima Rovilatuo Mor also spoke on the occasion. Yoga teacher Amit Mukhiya demonstrated yoga exercise and also gave power point on steps and benefits of yoga.
Deputy superintendent of police Bishnu Thapa, Zonal director Jackie Ruivah and district co-ordinator of Nahru Yuva Kendra John Mathabo also attended the programme. A total of 148 people participated.
MITE: Modern institute of teacher education (MITE) B.Ed students along with teachers celebrated International Yoga Day (IYD) at auditorium hall on June 20.
On the occasion, students and teachers participated in yoga exercise under the guidance of Yoga practitioner and winner of Entreprenuer 2014 Annie Patton.
Vice Principal and Patton maintained that practicing yoga every day could prevent many diseases and cured. They also shared the advantages of yoga in day-to-day life.
