Minister of School Education and SCERT Yitachu said that there was an immediate need for the Naga people to change the mindset in order to take the society forward.
The minister said this at the 75 years celebration programme of Government Higher Secondary School (GHSS) Chukitong at Chukitong on Friday.
He outlined several areas, where the change was needed including over dependence on government jobs, receiving salary without attending office. “No such thing existed anywhere on this planet”, he said.
On the occasion, Yitachu also said that “we should refrain from opening of factions after factions as with opening of new factions, the society gets overburdened”.
He also called upon the people to learn to preserve and conserve nature, instead of opening new villages as it consumed more spaces and led to global warming.
On presence of under-matriculate teachers in government schools as pointed out in the media by a regional party, the minister said that the issue should be viewed in relation to the circumstance of time as at that point of time, those appointed “were the best qualified.”
He however, added that they would be phased out in the next few years.
The chief guest also expressed appreciation to some students from GHSS Chukitong for coming out with distinctions in various subjects in the recently declared HSLC and HSSLC results. If the current trend continues, then GHSS Chukitong will regain its past glories where it had produced many prominent personalities, he said.
