PTCSU, CSU express anguish

Phek Town Chakhesang Students’ Union (PTCSU) and Chakhesang Students’ Union (CSU) have expressed anguish over irregularities at Industrial Training Institute (ITI) Phek particularly attendance of staff.
In a press release, PTCSU president Kudukhoto Tetseo said the union along with CSU conducted surprise checking on June 12 morning after receiving “report of the irregularities of the vice principal and staff at ITI Phek. Tetseo said it was appalling to note that “the leave forwarding authority was not sincere and not regular in checking the staff attendance.” This has caused great hardship to students in covering the syllabus (practical and theory) for the semester course, PTCSU said.
During the interaction with student trainees, Tetseo said that the unions noted down the following grievances which needed to be addressed at the earliest by the concerned authorities: Due to shortage of tools and materials, students/trainees are compelled to buy their own hacksaw blades and other materials for practices; stipends for 2013 trainee batch were not yet released; motor mechanic trainees are left without instructor after their first semester exam due to absence of instructor.
PTCSU said some trainees also had informed them that they were unwilling to appear their second and third semester examination since none of the syllabus was covered till date. The union pointed out that as per official attendance record, only 16 employees were listed including both teaching and non-teaching staff. Taking note of all these, PTCSU has urged upon the higher authorities to take stringent action against the head of institution and irregular employees particularly the instructors who have neglected to perform their duty.
It further warned that if the concerned authorities fail to redress the grievances, the unions would be compelled to pursue its own course of action to protect the rights and interest of the students.
