Against the backdrop blasts and firing incidents in Kohima, ACAUT Nagaland pointed out that the March 26 and April 25 firing incidents was just to “provoke unbridled reaction” of the paramilitary forces against the Naga civilian population.
In a press release, ACAUT media cell said that “since NSCN (K) has already admitted responsibility for the April 25 firing where one AR jawan was killed, it can only conclude that it was a sinister design to provoke unbridled reaction from the paramilitary forces against its own Naga civilian population”.
It said, when an organization professes sovereignty for the Nagas, “such an abomination has never been heard of and Naga people should not forget this treachery”.
“What kind of organization is the NSCN (K) that it would have no qualms about using innocent Naga civilians as baits for its selfish interest?”, ACAUT asked.
In this era of heightened consciousness, ACAUT said there was no room for violence, not of the kind brazenly carried out in Kohima town or the bombing campaigns being orchestrated throughout the state.
Citing the recently held Scottish referendum, ACAUT said it has clearly shown that nationalism may not necessarily entail sentencing its people to undue hardships on account of conflict.
While reiterating its stand, ACAUT said Nagas desire that all the NPGs come together to give a united and concerted effort to the decades old Naga political issue through dialogue for a lasting solution.
Meanwhile, ACAUT lauded the initiative of all 19 wards and colonies in Kohima town and extended its support to unitedly stand and fight antisocial activities/elements.
ACAUT said such united effort shall send a strong message to the factions, particularly NSCN(K), that the Naga public shall not be cowed down anymore.
It also lauded DC Kohima in mobilizing citizens to keep vigil, help prevent untoward incidents and put in place sort of community policing. ACAUT hoped that DCs in other districts replicate similar measures.
ACAUT also strongly supported AYO’s non-cooperation resolution against NSCN (K) and appealed to Nagas of Kohima to impose non-cooperation on other factions as well. “Any sort of compliance with the tax demands, irrespective of A, B, C, D factions will only serve their greed and nothing else”, ACAUT added.
