NVCO flays cheating by butchers

March 29, 2015 | by admin

Nagaland Voluntary Consumers’ Organization (NVCO) has castigated the butchers particularly in Lower Chandmari AG Bridge, Kohima, for the unethical practices such as using rigged weights, charging meat prices above KMC rates, selling leftovers meat, ill treatment to consumers by not allowing them to choose their choice of meat portions etc.
On verification of one such complaint by its president Kezhokhoto Savi, a butcher shop in the said area was found cheating consumers.
NVCO, through its Press and Media Cell, has condemned such act of unfair means which was a threat to the health of consumers in Kohima and also informed every consumer to be more alert in checking necessary things like weighing tools and freshness of the meat etc. before buying.
For further queries and complaints, citizens are requested to call Nagaland State Consumer Helpline through its toll free No. 1800-345-3701 during office hours or visit its office at Old Assembly Secretariat (1st floor, KMC office building) which is a joint venture of NVCO and department of LMCP, Government of Nagaland.
NVCO has also appealed the district administration and the municipal council to conduct surprise checking so as to avoid such unfair means of trade practices in the state capital.
