Two Nagas among 12 NE artistes in K-Pop semi-final

Two Nagas – Edwin Jamir (18) and Vetolu Rose Vero (26) have been shortlisted in the semi-final of Korean Pop (K-Pop) under song cover category the biggest international events for the North East artistes organized by South Korean government with the support of numerous government agencies across the globe. The semi-final would be held on August 17,6pm at FICCI auditorium New Delhi.  

The four other shortlisted under song cover were Boby Techi (23) and Carolina Norbu (22) both from Arunachal Pradesh, Saakshi (20) from Darjeeling and Nayonika Sengupta (22) from Tripura.

The six shortlisted under dance cover were I K Grirls, Crazy Freaks Dace Crew, LMNO Phii, Mysterious Fellow Dance Group, Killer Shells and 1nAll all from NE made it to the semi-final.

The three best artistes will be selected in Song Cover and Dance Cover categories in the semi-final. In Dance Cover the winner will receive ticket to participate at the grand finale of Gangwon K-POP Festival on September 28, while the Song Cover first prize winner and Dance Cover second prize winning team will be recommended as candidates for the Changwon K-POP World Festival.

Apart from gaining the opportunity to win the contest and sharing stage with K-Pop icons, the six-day trip to South Korean of winners to participate in the final will also be paid.

All 12 participating teams will also receive latest electronic items by Samsung and LG by the organizer. It may be mentioned that the first edition was started in the year 2011.

The Indian edition of K-Pop is sponsored by the Korean Cultural Centre (KCC) India, a department under Embassy of the Republic of Korea in New Delhi and Korea Tourism Organisation.
