Sub-divisions, ADC hqs, orgs observe R-Day

NOKLAK: Noklak sub-division celebrated Republic Day at public ground, Noklak with ADC Noklak, Temsu as the chief guest. The ADC unfurled the national flag and took salute from the contingents and delivered the Republic Day speech. The march past was participated by NAP, Village Guards and Christain High School. Around 3000 people attended the function.

CHIZAMI: Republic Day was celebrated in Chizami with SDO (C) Renabomo Odyuo as chief guest who unfurled the national flag at the SDO (C) office premises. National anthem was sung by Chakhesang Students Union Chizami. The programme was attended by government servants and area public leaders.

TIZIT: Tizit sub-division celebrated Republic Day at local ground with ADC, Tizit, Robin Lotha as chief guest. The chief guest unfurled the national flag and took salute from the parade contingents comprising of 6th NAP, V.G Longting Village, Government Higher Secondary School. The chief guest read out the Republic Day speech. The highlights of the function included bamboo dance by Jugoka village and Zangaham Union, Tizit town, traditional folk dance by ANSK Tizit unit. The function was attended by general public, NGOs, public leaders, GBs and head of department and staff.

MANGKOLEMBA: Mangkolemba ADC headuarter celebrated Republic Day with ADC Mangkolemba, Denncan Avennoho Phom as chief guest. He hosted the national flag and took salute from the three parade contingents comprising of 2nd NAP C. Company Battalion, Government high school and Baptist higher secondary school and read out the Republic Day speech. Government employees, NGOs, Church leaders, public attended the function. The parade contingents were led by Parade commander ABSI Imnapokyim Mongro.

THONOKNYU: Thonoknyu observed Republic Day at SDO (C) office with SDO (C) Thonoknyu, Heto Sema who unfurled the national flag. All department offices hosted the national flag in its office premises.

PUGHUBOTO: Pughuboto sub-division celebrated Republic Day at Pughuboto local ground with ADC Peter Lichamo as chief guest. The chief guest called upon people to re-dedicate themselves for achieving a common cause and strive harder to build a better future for the people in the state. He also appealed to all the sections of the society to extend co-operation to create a peaceful atmosphere for free and fair election. Earlier, the chief guest unfurled the national flag and took salute from the three contingents which included 8th NAP, DEF and School students.

AGHUNATO: Republic Day was observed at public ground Aghunato with ADC, T. Orenthung Ezung, NCS, as chief guest. The chief guest appealed to the public to ensure free and fair assembly election in a peaceful atmosphere. Earlier, the chief guest took salute from the march past contingents which included 8th NAP D. Company. Commemorating the Day, Eastern Sumi Sports Association (ESSA) football tournament final match was played between Raising stars and Kelto youth Club, where Kelto youth club turned out as the champion.

TAMLU: Republic Day was celebrated at Tamlu ADC headquarter with ADC, Tamlu, Yarenthung Ezung unfurling the national flag followed by Republic Day speech. The programme highlights included tug of war between GBs and DBs. The function was attended by government officials, GB, DB and general public.

LONGKHIM: Longkhim sub-division celebrated Republic Day at ADC office Complex. ADC Yangchingkumla unfurled the national flag and delivered the Republic Day speech. All government officials, public leaders, DB’s, GB’s and general public attended the function.

CHEN: Republic Day was celebrated at Chen head quarter with SDO (C) Chen, Arikumba unfurling the national flag. All government officials and staff from various departments, GBs, village council chairman, NGOs and public forum Chen town attended the function. National anthem was sung by government high school Chen and march past by VGs.

TOBU: Republic Day celebration was observed at local football ground, Tobu head quarter with EAC Mopong, Thungchabemo as chief guest who unfurled the national tri- colour flag and took salute from six parade contingents. Sweet distribution was carried out by Adhoc Town committee Tobu. Other highlights of the programme included floor dance by Government High School colony, dance by Tobu Town Students Union followed by volley ball exhibition match.

JAKHAMA: Jakhama sub-division also observed Republic Day by hoisting the tri-colour national flag in all government institutions.   

MONYAKSHU: Monyakshu SDO Hq. celebrated Republic Day at helipad ground Monyakshu with SDO (Civil) Monyakshu, Mono Khiam as chief guest. He unfurled the national flag and took the salute from the parade contingents. Village council chairmen, GBs, DBs, NGOs, public leaders and government employees attend the function.

STATE BJP: State BJP party on Friday observed the 64th Republic Day at the party’s  office at Super Market, Dimapur, where the national flag was hoisted by Prashant Arora, general secretary (org) and Rosy Yanthan, president, BJP Mahila Morcha. On the occasion, Dr. M. Chuba Ao, president, Nagaland BJP and P.B. Acharya, senior BJP leader and election in charge, Nagaland, in a joint statement Saturday re-instated their mission to build a strong and prosperous India, at the same time, hoped for an early political solution, peace and prosperity. The party also said it was proud of Padma Shree Rani Ma Gaidinlu who fought for the country’s freedom and paid its respect to her inspiring leadership on this day, also being her birthday. As a gesture of goodwill, BJP Nagaland led by Johny G. Rengma vice president and Rosy Yanthan, mahila president, along with Dimapur District president K. Nikhevi Yeputo, district party workers and mahilas visited Civil Hospital, Dimapur and distributed food items to the patients and wished them a speedy recovery. State BJP also wished the Zeliangrong people, particularly the Rongmeis on the occasion of “Gan-ngai”, the post harvest festival of the Zeliangrongs coinciding with Republic Day celebration.

ASSAM RIFLES: The 64th Republic Day of the country was celebrated by 6 Sector Assam Rifles along with its units under the aegis of HQ IGAR (N) by hoisting the national flag and reflecting the feeling of pride and patriotism. In a bid to inspire and educate young minds, the 18 Assam Rifles under aegis of HQ 6 Sector Assam Rifles organised an exhibition displaying its major weapons and communication technologies to residents of Peren district at Town Hall, on the occasion of 64th Republic Day.

The motive behind the show was to give visitors an insight into the respectable military life and inspire children to become aware of defence forces and be a part of it. The main purpose of the exhibition was to create awareness about the working of defence forces among the general population and the various career opportunities provided by the defence forces (Assam Rifles). Locals in Peren got an opportunity to acquaint themselves with the functioning of the Assam Rifles and the kind of life led by them.

Visitors including Sainik School students and NCC cadets were seeing exploring key weapons and communication technologies that were on display and about glorious history of 177 years old paramilitary force. 20 Assam Rifles & 29 Assam Rifles under the aegis of 6 Sector AR also participated with the local populace & district administration in Medziphema and Dimapur.  HQ 6 Sector AR also invited ex servicemen at 3 Mile, Dimapur to commemorate the occasion.

Dr. Chumben Murry, minister for agriculture, district administration of Peren & Dimapur along with local populace praised the efforts of 6 Sector Assam Rifles in celebration of Republic Day and ensuring peace and harmony in the region. Meanwhile, Major General BS Das, SM, VSM conveyed Republic Day greetings to all the citizens of Nagaland. Major General BS Das, SM, VSM also applauded the ESM, martyrs and families for their selfless service towards the nation.

SERVERS’ CLUB DIMAPUR: On the occasion of Republic Day, Servers’ Club Dimapur in collaboration with Dimapur District Voluntary Blood Donors Association and Model Blood Bank of District Hospital Dimapur organized a voluntary blood donation camp under the theme, “Donate blood and save more life”. The organizer thanked individuals and groups who turned up to donate their precious blood and to Patanjali Yog Samiti Dimapur for their co-operation and participation during the camp.

LCK: Members of Lions Club of Kohima (LCK) visited inmates currently under treatment in the State Mental Health Institute here at Aradura as part of the 64th Republic Day celebration. The members presented the inmates with blankets, food items, etc. LCK secretary, Oken Jeet Sandham and Lion Dr Wabang led the team and interacted with the inmates. Lion Oken Jeet Sandham recalled their past visitations to the Hospital and assured that the club members would do their best to see that the inmates too live in a peaceful environment while undergoing treatment. Dr Ahokhe, MS, State Mental Health Institute, Kohima also expressed happiness on the visit by the members. Acknowledging the generous contribution by LCK over the years, Dr Ahekho said, “We have nothing to give in return for your magnanimity but to pray that the Almighty shower His blessings upon you, your family and your organization.”  LCK president Lion Er Hozheto Shikhu, who was unable to attend the program, conveyed his wishes to the inmates for their speedy recovery.

HINDU KALYAN SAMITI: 12 members of the Hindu Kalyan Samiti (HKS), Kohima led by its president, Manoj Kumar Agarwal (Papu) visited inmates of the Kohima District Jail with rice, dal and other edible items as part of the 64th Indian republic Day celebration. This is the first time the HKS has visited the inmates of the Kohima District Jail. Agarwal assured that in future too they would be happy to have such opportunity to visit inmates. Superintendent of the district jail also expressed his happiness on the visit by the members of the HKS, Kohima.

RCK: Rotarians of Rotary Club Kohima (RCK) visited Eden Garden Children’s Home, Khuzama on January 26 as part of Republic Day celebration. The chartered member and immediate past president Rtn. Kezhokhoto Savi spoke during the formal programme as the main speaker praised the management in running the home with real spirit of love and service in good atmosphere. Secretary of the club Rtn. Robert Khuvung expresses gratitude to all for attending the programme.
NCSU: As part of the philanthropic service by various organizations on Republic Day celebrations in Kohima, Nagaland Contractors & Suppliers Union (NCSU) visited the Old Age Home. Led by its president Pele Khezhie and general secretary John Kath along with members and action committee, NCSU organized a fellowship with senior citizens in presence of managing director Neithonuo Liegise. In his address to the elderly people at the home, Khezhie expressed that he was delighted to meet and interact with them and also sought their blessings and wished them good health. In her short introductory note, MD of Old Age Home, highlighted about the establishment and functioning of the home since 2005. She also informed that the home is functioning because of the contributions from well-wishers, organizations and government aided funds. She expressed gratitude to NCSU for extending support on the occasion. NCSU donated rice, vegetables, dal, sugar, meat etc., for the inmates of the home. (Correspondent)

AR ORGANISE HIGH TEA FOR ESM:  The 31 Assam Rifles organised a high tea for ex-servicemen of Mokokchung and Longleng on the occasion of 64th Republic Day celebration. The event was organised at battalion auditorium at Mokokchung. During the conduct of this event Commandant 31 Assam Rifles welcomed and felicitated all the ex-servicemen and congratulated on the occasion of Republic Day celebration. A total of 158 ex-servicemen from Mokokchung and Longleng district attended the function and also shared their experience and memories of days in uniform. The 31 Assam Rifles pipe band contingent also participated in Mokokchung district Republic Day parade held at Mokokchung. The band mesmerised the public and won accolades from one and all.
