BTC celebrates ‘25th anniversary cultural day’

Baptist Theological College (BTC) celebrated its “25th anniversary cultural day” with member of Rajya Sabha Khekiho Zhimomi and former home minister Thenucho Tunyi as chief guest and guest of honour respectively.
In his address, Khekiho stressed on the need to “develop our culture” and expressed happiness that the college was “developing” good cultural values and practices.
Stressing on the need to develop “our culture” that would bind the people and promote unity, Khekiho said that there was a need to “research our culture” so that would promote peace and harmony among different communities.
The guest of honour said that “our” culture was inferior to none and that “we” are more civilized than “they who considered themselves to be civilized”. Thenucho also stressed on the need to be rooted into “our” culture and traditions. However, he said that all that was practiced in the past cannot be put into practice today but that it should be archived.
Stating that Nagas has many good things to give the world, Thenucho said that the rest of the world was still to learn so much from the Nagas.
The chief guest and guest of honour were accompanied by former CPO president Pusazo Luruo and other dignitaries. The celebration was also attended by pastors, church leaders, public leaders and well wishers.
The programme was chaired by cultural secretary, BTCSA Onentemjen and god’s presence and blessing was invoked by Dr. Vekutulu L. Veyie. Executive secretary, CBCC Rev. Dr. Vezopa Tetseo said the welcome speech and principal BTC Rev. Dr. Yiepetso Wezah gave a brief introduction of the college.
Different cultural items were exhibited by CBCC staff, BTC core members, Sumi Fold melody, indigenous dance by CMHSS cultural troupe, Garo couple dance, folk song by CWWS, Mizo dance, Sangtam Dance, Phom folk dance, special item by Manipur students, Assamese dance and folk song by CMCC. Cultural items were followed by traditional games and handicraft exhibition. The cultural Day was followed by cultural night with various programmes.
