Deputy commissioner Wokha appeals to public

Deputy commissioner and district election officer, Vyasan Ramakrishnan has appealed to the public of Wokha district not to distribute cash, liquor or any item for gratification of voters during election as it would tantamount to “bribery” and that both giving and taking bribe could lead to imprisonment up to one year along with fine.

Flying squads have been formed under each police station to keep watch over distribution of cash, liquor and other items in the constituencies during the election, stated DC, and added anybody carrying huge amount of cash in any constituencies during elections should produce following documents to show the source and end-use of such cash in order to avoid seizure by the flying squads – PAN Card and a copy of the same, business registration certificate copy, copy of bank pass book/bank statement, showing withdrawal of cash, copy of cash book, in case of business involving regular cash transaction and evidence for end-use of the cash, like marriage invitation, hospital admission etc., an official bulletin stated.
