NPF officially kicks off 11-Northern Angami-II bye-poll campaign

Naga People Front (NPN) president Dr. Shürhozelie Liezietsu Tuesday said NPF stood for Nagas and their rights and asked them not to slide back but have a clear vision in taking the party and the people forward.
Addressing gathering at the bye-election campaign kick-off programme for11- Northern Angami-II Assembly Constituency in Ciechama village, Dr. Shürhozelie urged the electorate not to make the election into time of celebration or a time to gain money or wealth but a time to show the people, the aims and visions of NPF.
He described Dr. Neiphrezo Keditsu as a young and dynamic and promising person with a vision and urged supporters not to change the party’s stand. Chief minister T.R. Zeliang said BJP and NPF were pre-poll partners since 2003 and said though BJP has set up its own candidate for the bye-poll, he said the alliance would continue.
Stating that the opportunity created by former chief minister and Lok Sabha MP Neiphiu Rio should not be misused, Zeliang appealed the gathering to work together for the NPF candidate to make the tally of NPF to 38 and DAN-III to 52.
He said if Dr. Neiphrezo wins the election, the constituency would gain weightage having one MP in Delhi and an MLA from Northern Angami-II constituency.
Zeliang said if “you” clear the road today, it would be wider in future and appealed the supporters/voters, women wings and youth wings to work hard and come out victoriously.
No ‘friendly contest’: Rio
Reacting to the idea of a “friendly contest” between NPF and BJP as the two were alliance partners in the state, former chief minister and current MP Neiphiu Rio Tuesday said  the two parties were allies but were two different political parties and the election should not be a friendly contest.
Minister in-charge of the district Kiyanelie Peseyie in his brief address said NPF had the majority in DAN-III but NPF’s victory in the bye-election would be more advantageous for the constituency.
The NPF candidate Dr. Neiphrezo in his address said state and national politics differed as NPF was contesting against the national party and appealed his supporters not to be discouraged as BJP-led NDA were national ruling party.
He assured to work for the welfare of the old, young and the farmers.
Hosts of ministers, parliamentary secretaries, advisors, MLAs, NPF central leaders, party workers, supporters and over than 4000 people attended the campaign kickoff programme.
