With a motive to update the latest educational system of the government under Right To Education (RT) Act, Zhavame Students’ Union (ZSU) conducted a seminar on “Right to education” in Nagaland, sponsored by village council and VDB on August18, at VDB Hall Zhavame Village with associate professor guidance and counseling cell, SCERT Zavise Rume as resource person. Altogether 217 members took part in the programme including various organizations such as village education committee, village council, women society, VDBs, parents, teachers, youths and students. The programme engaged active interaction from the participants on the topic ‘concept of RTE’ in the first session and “Implementation of RTE” in the second session.
Resource person while briefing out the entire concepts and implementations of RTE in Nagaland, emphasized on few points such as no corporal punishment, free and compulsory education for children 6-14 years of age, no detention, continuous comprehensive evaluation etc. The participants were enthralled by the resource speaker vivid explanations about RTE policy of the government and their confusions and doubts were solved through active interaction. At the end of the programme, members acknowledged the real intentions of the government policy about RTE.
