The Naga National Council (NNC) celebrated “Naga Independence Day” with dedication and prayer in different regions August 14.
In a press release, NNC information & publicity wing stated that in Khutur village under Tuesang region, the celebration was graced by NNC acting president Z.Royim Yimchungrii as chief guest, who delivered the speech on the occasion. Other regional officials also spoke followed by mass prayer for the Naga people and the Nation.
In Shamator town, the celebration was observed with public leaders and the new members, some Naga army officials speaking on the occasion. There was also feast after the celebration.
In Union Territory-1, the celebration started with prayer and the meeting was chaired by the chairman H.Sumi. In Zeliangrong region, the officials with senior leaders celebrated with prayer to God.
In Lotha region, the region president conducted the celebration with the senior and veteran leaders, regional members, public leaders.
In Rengma region, the regional president along with officials and members celebrated the day with prayer and dedication.
In Ao Region, at Mopungchuket, the sub-regional council officials and members celebrated the day with senior most leader like “Gen.(Retd)” Merentoba, who also spoke on the occasion.
In Angami Region, the celebration began with the reading of the Holy Bible and mass prayer for the Naga people and Naga national unity. Women president Ketuno Angami addressed the gathering and the general secretary of NNC V.Nagi read out the speech. He spoke about the present situation and on the future programme of NNC. The occasion was marked with a big feast.
