Naga reconciliation among Naga political groups is being hailed almost as an “achievement” through its objective of bringing unity among various Naga political groups for a common goal; though recent incidents appear to be casting doubts on the role of the Forum for Naga Reconciliation(FNR)in the matter.
This has led NSCN (K) ‘lt. gen’ Niki Sumi to question the FNR for its “silence” to recent cases of “defections” by cadres of Naga political groups from one to the other under the guise of “reconciliation.”
Stating this in a telephone talk with Nagaland Post Sunday from the Suruhuto designated camp of the NSCN (K), Niki alleged that a number of “desperate” cadres of various Naga national groups have been “victimized” by FNR and were “running around from one group to the other.”
In this regard, Niki asked : “Why is FNR silent? It has to respond because the defections going on among Naga underground factions excluding NSCN (K), are due to FNR’s victimization by taking the name of unity and reconciliation.”
He also maintained that those Naga national workers from NSCN (I-M), FGN, NNC and ‘Khole party’ who were defecting from one group to the other, under the garb of unification, was actually for one reason- want of more “power.”
Further questioning the FNR, Niki said if it was able to unify the Naga underground factions into one, would it(FNR) ask them (Naga groups) to stand up and fight for sovereignty or ask them to sit down quietly since they have all come together and become unified? .
He also sought an answer from the FNR on modalities and if unification has been achieved on that basis, among the different Naga underground groups?. “FNR has to give a declaration on this account too,” Niki insisted.
Nikki also termed it “very unfortunate” the press statement by former NSCN(K) ‘kilonser’ Hokato Vusshe who recently defected to GPRN/NSCN and commented on the origin of president SS Khaplang as being a “a Burmese and having no concern for Nagas.”
“Not even chairman Isak Chishi Swu, general secretary Th. Muivah of NSCN (I-M) or president ‘Gen (retd)’ Khole Konyak of GPRN/NSCN had ever voiced any such reservation on Khaplang’s origin and they never will” he said.
Nikki remarked that Hokato Vusshe who claimed to have contributed service to NSCN (K) for three years “seems to think he can…this is very unfortunate and improper of him…”
