Soil sinking and minor landslide which started in the previous monsoon has caused numerous craters in the areas affecting houses and class rooms of Edith Douglas School.
Since then the craters in the soil are increasing day by day during the current monsoon affecting many families.
DPRO Mon report stated that the Deputy Commissioner (DC) Mon Angau I. Thou along with SDO Sadar, Keyirangding Hegui, GBs and ward executives of Tanlao ward inspected the land sinking and landslide areas of Tanlao ward at Edith Douglas Colony Wednesday.
According to the GBs of the ward around 70 houses and Edith Douglas School have been affected by the land sinking while 10 other houses were also affected by the landslide in the same area.
Interacting with the ward leaders, the DC assured to extend all possible assistance to the badly affected families for relief under natural calamity after door to door verification by the DBs and approaching the government.
The DC also appealed to the school management committee to arrange alternative class rooms for the student to accommodate and to ensure secure learning.
The ward leaders while appreciating the DC and the team for their concern requested to depute the expert form geology and mining to study the cause of the soil sinking.
