3 new portable CD4 machines in Nagaland

Department of AIDS Control, ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Delhi has provided three new portable CD4 machines to the districts of Kiphire, Zunheboto and Tuensang July 10.
These are in addition to the existing four old CD4 machines, which were currently functioning in Mokokchung, Tuensang, Dimapur and Kohima.
A CD4 machine is used for testing an HIV positive person, to know his/her body’s immunity level.
With regard to this, project director Dr. L. Watikala has expressed gratitude to department of AIDS Control ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Delhi for providing the machines to three districts in Nagaland. According to project director, the department has also promised to provide four new CD4 machines by the end of September to replace the four old machines. 
Further, it was informed that frequent breakdown of the old CD4 machines was causing a lot of problems to the people living with HIV&AIDS for years, which was also 10 years old and have been relocated from other States.
