Nagaland minister of agriculture and NSAMB chairman Dr. Benjongliba Aier made a courtesy call on the union minister of agriculture Radha Mohan Singh at Krishi Bhavan in New Delhi July 16.
According to a press release, senior officials in the ministry including the secretary of agriculture and the director general of ICAR also joined and discussed various issues like the present status of agriculture in the state, establishment of Central Agricultural University in Nagaland, discussion in connection with formulation of Crisis Management Plan to deal with the drought situation, etc.
Earlier, on July 15, Dr. Aier also met the union minister of state for agriculture & food processing industries Dr. Sanjeev Kumar Balyan. He discussed at length about the post harvest management and marketing problems as well as food processing status in Nagaland.
According to agriculture deputy director A. Hangsingh, the union state minister assured all the necessary help in setting up of more infrastructures for food processing industries in Nagaland. He also encouraged the state to give more emphasis on the organic farming as its products have got a lot of potentials in Nagaland.
