Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW), Government of India in association with International Institute for Population Sciences (IIPS), Mumbai as the nodal agency and Nielsen India Pvt. Ltd., as the field agency, is conducting the district level household and facility survey- 4 (DLHS-4).
The objectives of the survey is to estimate or assess ante-natal care and immunization coverage, extent of safe delivery and coverage of JSY, contraceptive prevalence and to evaluate the awareness about HIV & AIDS and reproductive and sexually transmitted infections, clinical, Anthropometric and Biochemical (CAB) component has also been introduced for the first time in DLHS in order to obtain data on nutritional status and information on prevalence of certain lifestyle disorders like diabetes and hypertension at district level, some elementary tests for measurements like length/height, weight, and blood pressure, estimation of hemoglobin and fasting plasma glucose and testing of salt used by households for iodine.
Assessment of the availability and quality of Reproductive and Child Health (RCH) services and contribution of public-private sectors to RCH services are also the key information points of the survey.
Moreover, the availability of critical inputs in public health care establishments through Facility Survey will also be brought together.
In Nagaland, the survey will be launched from August 26 starting from Dimapur district. Eventually the teams will move to all the 11 districts of the state.
The 21-day long DLHS4 training held at CTC in Chumukedima was inaugurated by Dr. Tiaga Naga, CMO Dimapur.
Data will be gathered from head of the households and eligible women in the age group of 15 to 49 years.
A team of investigators under one supervisor will visit selected villages and towns to collect information at the selected household level.
The results of clinical, anthropometrical and biochemical tests except hemoglobin will be provided to the household by a health card for the first time through this survey.
It is expected the data that will be collected through this survey will be used by the central and state governments for planning various programmes for the benefit of mothers and children and people of the state at large.
The department has therefore, requested all to participate and extend all possible cooperation for a successful completion of the survey.
