Dimapur district administration along with Dorians Society, Dimapur would be organizing a public viewing of the live telecast of Football World Cup Final 2014 on July 13, at 8.30 p.m. at City Tower junction, Dimapur. Speaking about the proposed event, Deputy Commissioner (DC) Dimapur Hushili Sema said “football runs in Naga blood” and the novel idea of organizing such an event was to “prevent youngsters from anti social activities” during the scheduled day.
She said that the district administration took the initiative to tie-up with Dorians Society, Dimapur. She expressed the hope that the event would witness a positive turnout to make the night memorable for residents of Dimapur. It would be purely a non-profit event aimed at bringing “some joy and entertainment” to the general public of Dimapur, said the DC.
Revenue officer Dimapur, Henok Phom also informed that the event would also feature performances by rock bands – Clueless Attention, Radio Head, a four-year old drummer and participants of the ongoing guitar prodigy contestants. The audience would also have an opportunity to relish dishes from food stalls and watch fireworks during the event. He said the event has been sponsored by business community, business houses, individuals and officers of the district. Dorians Society, Dimapur president Aomeren said another addition to the attraction of the event would be free distribution of gifts like football, T-Shirts and mobile phones to few lucky members of the audience. He hoped that everyone would enjoy the event with true spirit and passion. The fund raised by the food stalls would be donated to the fund for the construction of new Dorians Society office building. He also disclosed that football fans from Kohima would also be joining the event.
The sponsors of the event are general secretary of NPF finance Basu Damani; Eastern Publication, Pencil Work Craft, Remitech, Printing Solutions, MTC; DMC; CTC; CK enterprise (to provide two dish TVs); Hornbill Capacity Sound System; Crescendo (two projectors). The food courts/stalls would have merchandised items; dry fat food; beverages & juice; Chinese food; Naga food; ghalo & sticky rice; chicken rice stew (Ao stall) and mocktails. The organizers said around Rs. 7 lakhs would be spent for the event.
