LOU, DHEP appeals for action against ‘SS leaders’

Reacting to news item on formation of new team of Land Owners’ Union (LOU) Doyang Hydro Electric Project (DHEP), LOU, HEP NEEPCO Ltd president Y Wopan and general secretary P Roland Ezung has asked the deputy commissioner Wokha and NSCN/GPRN to “analyze” and matters seriously and take immediate action against the “so called self-styled and unauthorized leaders” led by R. Yanthan so as to “safeguard the legitimate order of the government”.
The signatories while condemning the “self-styled leaders” asked them not to “tarnish the good image of the executive members” of the 17th land affected villages who are officially nominated by the respective village councils.
They also asserted that the “self interested” persons declaring themselves as the new team of the union was “unconstitutional and infringement” of the land owners rights and the union constitution.
The signatories also reminded that the constitution of the LOU, DHEP NEEPO Ltd Doyang Wokha, Nagaland was amended by the committee appointed by the president of the union on April 26, 2013.
They said that the committee tabled the amended constitution on May 8, 2014 and the same was approved by the house representing all the land affected villages. Simultaneously, the election of the new president was held and 31 executive members of the 48 members representing 17 land affected villages of DHEP elected Y Wopan Lotha as the president of the union.
The signatories also claimed that the “self-styled and unauthorized leaders” has “sidelined and ignored” the order of the DC Wokha and NSCN/GPRN order respectively. They claimed that both the DC and NSCN/GPRN has “endorsed” Y Wopan Lotha as the new president of the union after “thorough examination of the constitution, names and signatures of the executive members of the 17 land affected village”.
Urging the DC and NSCN/GPRN to take immediate action, the signatories said that failing which the “mandated office bearers of the union shall take its own course of action as per the orders”.
