In an effort to create awareness of System of Rice Intensification (SRI), line transplanting technologies in agriculture, the department of agriculture, Tuensang organized farmers training on SRI and line transplanting under National Food Security Mission (NFSM) in all the selected clusters with the last training programme conducted at Kejok village May 17.
During week-long programme, which was organized separately in clusters area, keynote address was delivered by agriculture officer T. Longri. He informed farmers about the present scenario of agriculture system in the district and how SRI and line transplanting system should be adopted for increasing the productivity of rice.
Technical session on method of SRI and line transplanting was taken up by agriculture officer Wongto Chingmak. He explained about the various steps to be followed from seed selection to crop harvesting.
Besides, on-field training on SRI system was also demonstrated to the farmers.
Paddy seeds and cono weeder were distributed to the beneficiaries of the selected clusters after the training programme.
