BUSINESS ASSOCIATION OF NAGAS (BAN) has sought the review of Nagaland Industrial Policy (NIP) in consultation with Naga businessmen and entrepreneurs based on local needs and ground realities as the existing policy has failed to take off. The idea of seeking a review of NIP was mooted during a function that kick-started the process of issuing certificate to genuine Naga business owners and entrepreneurs held at Hotel Trogapan on May 4.
During the function, BAN general secretary Dr. Khekugha Muru who gave the concluding remark said BAN should be allowed to assist and act as a facilitator in identifying genuine Naga entrepreneurs for the department to award schemes and assistance, said a press release issued by BAN information and publicity in-charge Mar Longkumer. Khekugha said BAN would act as “positive pressure group and watch-dog” so that genuine Naga entrepreneurs got their due share instead of bogus entrepreneurs. During the function, commissioner secretary of industries and commerce Thangi Manen who graced the function said BAN should strengthen its presence in other districts of Nagaland and identify genuine Naga entrepreneurs and acknowledged the potential of BAN in working as a facilitator between the government and genuine Naga entrepreneurs.
