Kyong Students Union (KSU) observed “Black Day” (Martyrs Day) in remembrance of two of its members late Thungkhomo Ezung and late Chumdamo Tungoe.
The two were killed in Assam police firing April 14, 1977 during a silent procession called by the erstwhile Lotha Students’ Union to protest against manhandling of the then SDO (civil) Wokha by Assam Police at Ralan.
Since then, KSU has been observing April 14 as ‘Black Day/Martyr Day’ in memory of late Thungkumo and late Chumdamo Lotha. KSU representatives led by its president Amos Odyuo paid floral tribute at the ‘Martyrs Park’ and visited the two martyrs’ parents and family members and held a floral laying ceremony at their grave yards.
