Following its interaction with civil society leaders of Mon district on March 24, Against Corruption and Unabated Taxation (ACAUT) Nagaland has stated that it was “constrained to take into account” the view of Konyak students’ Union (KSU) president Manlip Konyak that student bodies and NGOs should not undertake any sort of donation drive in the market.
In a press release, ACAUT Nagaland stated it has resolved that any organization, whether student bodies, tribal organisations or NGOs, undertaking any donation drive in the markets causing undue harassment to the business community was unacceptable and condemnable.
ACAUT stated that specifically Dimapur the commercial hub the state was witness to such “unsavoury activities”, adding that it would be “ever vigilant on this count.”
Further, ACAUT stated that “present trend” of organizations including civil society bodies asking for commission from contractors undertaking contract works in their respective areas was uncalled for.
It called upon the public to bring such incidences to the notice of ACAUT Nagaland whenever possible. ACAUT has also provided contact no (8974761098) of its public grievances cell convenor for better co ordination.
