IGNOU induction prog in Yingli College

Induction programme of Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) study centre was held Wednesday at Yingli Government College, Longleng with deputy commissioner Longleng, Libenthung Lotha as chief guest.

Speaking at the programme, the chief guest expressed gratitude to the director and his team from Kohima and faculties of the IGNOU for their tireless effort in introducing IGNOU study centre in far flung place like Longleng.

Lotha said IGNOU was one of the vital educational institutions especially for the married, retired, employed and drop outs as it provided not only academic subjects methods but also imparted counseling on various subjects and activities.

He said having such study centre in Longleng was a great benefit for the people of the district and urged the student community to be active and sincere so to enhance the literacy rate of the district.

Delivering her special speech, IGNOU RC 20 assistant regional director Dr. Imnainla emphasized on various activities and positive impact through counseling, assignments, projects etc under IGNOU study centre.

Highlighting the background of the IGNOU, she said Indira Gandhi National Open University was a central university established by an Act of Parliament, under the ministry of Human Resource Development Government of India.

She said the mandate of the university was to provide access to higher education to all the segments of the society.

Dr. Imnainla also said one could study with IGNOU at their place and convenience and acquire higher degree or upgrade skills at an affordable cost.

She also said IGNOU was one of the best study centres, especially for the married, homemakers, employed, retired, senior citizen as IGNOU offered flexibility during admission with minimum eligibility criteria.

She encouraged the students and participants to be serious and use the opportunity in right direction.
While lauding the coordinator and staffs of IGNOU study centre Longleng for their initiatives since last year, she expressed happiness over increase in enrolment.

Others who spoke at the programme included coordinator, IGNOU SC-2026, Dr. A.K Choudhary, senior academic counsellor and Dr. B. Henshet Phom Principal Yingli College.

The programme was chaired by coordinator Bhaw Nath Jha and invocation prayer was pronounced by Henila, while vote of thanks was proposed by lecture C. Theppen Phom.
