SED clarifies on textbooks distribution

February 6, 2014 | by admin

Appreciating the concern expressed by the Naga Students’ Federation (NSF) regarding delay in distribution of textbooks, the school education department (SED) has clarified that delay in procuring textbooks during 2013-14 was because the fund could not be made available in time. In a press release, school education director Zaveyi Nyekha said the department, during 2012-13, could procure and distribute books well ahead of 2013 academic session as the finance department made required amount available on time.
However, the director stated that during 2013-14 order for supply of free textbooks could be placed only on January 25, 2014 because fund could not be made available in time. Further, the school education director pointed out that in spite of delayed order, the books from publishers were already in transit and expected to reach Dimapur by February 15. According to director, the department was making all efforts to complete the distribution at the earliest possible and therefore requested the student community and public to bear with the department.
