In order to recruit physically better candidates, the timings for the 1.6 km run for Soldiers General Duty category for recruitment in the Indian Army have been changed.
In a press release, PRO (defence) Lt Col E Musavi stated that candidates who pass the run in 5 minutes 40 seconds or below would be allotted group one and they would be awarded 60 marks.
The candidates who pass the run between 5 minutes 41 seconds to 6 minutes would be allotted group two and they would be awarded 48 marks for the same.
All candidates who complete the run in 6 minutes one second or later would be declared as fail. The revised timings for soldier general duty category will be applicable from April 1, 2014 onwards.
