Army recruitment revised criteria

In order to recruit physically better candidates, the timings for the 1.6 km run for Soldiers General Duty category for recruitment in the Indian Army have been changed.  
In a press release, PRO (defence) Lt Col E Musavi stated that candidates who pass the run in 5 minutes 40 seconds or below would be allotted group one and they would be awarded 60 marks.   
The candidates who pass the run between 5 minutes 41 seconds to 6 minutes would be allotted group two and they would be awarded 48 marks for the same.   
All candidates who complete the run in 6 minutes one second or later would be declared as fail.  The revised timings for soldier general duty category will be applicable from April 1, 2014 onwards.
