All Nagaland Government College Teachers’ Association (ANGCTA) on July 19 staged a sit in dharna to register its protest against the “attack” by the Ministry of the Human Resource Development (MHRD) on the democratic system on education.
A press release from ANGCTA president, Lily Angami and general secretary, Dr. Kekhrieseno Christina stated that the association, an affiliate of All India Federation of University and College Teachers’ Organization (AIFUCTO), joined the rest of the colleges and universities across the country in the sit-in dharna.
The release stated that AIFUCTO decided to wage a relentless struggle against the central government and its neo-liberal assault on education as observed in the draft proposal of the Higher Education Commission (HEC) 2018.
ANGCTA said the proposal had profoundly destroyed the democratic vision of education by the founding members of the Indian Constitution. The association also resolved to continue to support any follow up activities of AIFUCTO pertaining to this issue in the near future.
