Task force begins work

TO CLEAR ENCROACHMENTS ALONG PUBLIC ROADS IN KMA
As per the directives of the deputy commissioner (DC) Kohima, the task force, constituted to ensure the safety of roads and highways within Kohima district jurisdiction, began their work in full swing starting November 22.

The task force has been set up to remove/evict the encroachments and illegal activities along the public roads that causes blockage of drains, mudslides and damage to roads.

According to a DIPR report, evictions were carried out in Sechu Zubza under the direction of SDO (civil). Dobashis and Gaonburas from the area also actively participated in the work.

Under Jakhama sub-division, the Phesama Youth and Jakhama villagers started clearing the highway beginning November 22 as directed. The work continued till Saturday with the assistance from Southern Angami Youth Organization.

In southern area sector – NH-02, the work was led by SDO (C), Jakhama, Sungti Jamir as convenor.
In Kohima town area, the task force began widening of the PWD junction area with revenue officer Kohima, Zibenthung Kithan as convenor.

Revenue officer Kohima, Zibenthung Kithan has appreciated the public cooperation in carrying out the works.

He further called upon all responsible for their continued support. DC Kohima, W. Honje Konyak visited the sites where clearance/evictions etc were being carried out and expressed satisfaction over the works done so far. Further, he appealed to the public for support and cooperation from their end.

DC said task force exercise would be a continuous process even after the Hornbill festival where they would assist the responsible departments in the follow-up activities.

DC Kohima also said there would be a total clean-up of the state capital November 27 ahead of the State’s celebration of 50 years of statehood and the Hornbill festival.
