Consequences due to neglect or inefficiency of the Department of Power (DoP), continue to pose potential hazards on public.
In one incident, a High Tension (HT) tower collapsed after the corroded foot gave way on Sunday and fell among some shanty shacks near Naga Shopping Arcade. Fortunately, no one was either injured or electrocuted.
The foot of the HT tower in Naga Shopping Arcade had been badly corroded since some years back. The corrosion had caused the entire tower to totter for the past year or so.
Those living in and around the spot, claimed they had informed the Department of Power but since several months, nothing was done.
Some distance away in the same area, along the Kuda road (erstwhile Nagarjan), another street light pole is almost breaking off but somehow hanging on.
In case the head snapped, there is no guarantee what could happen if the naked power cables touched people below.
