
Supply Chain Management (SCM) –– a monitoring tool for tracking stock inventory starting from the godown to the fair price shops –– was launched by DK Gupta, Director of Public Distribution, Ministry of Public distribution and Consumer Affairs, in the conference hall of Directorate of Food and Civil Supplies (F&CS) Dimapur on Wednesday.
According to an official bulletin, the scheme is for ensuring timely deliverance of goods and services to the citizens of Nagaland.
During the launching programme, Gupta said the application would make the beneficiaries aware about the availability of foodgrains.
While congratulating the F&CS director, AsanglaImti, NIC Dimapur and all officials involved in developing the application, Gupta said “it is a big achievement for the state of Nagaland.”
Gupta said Nagaland has completed all the activities for the beneficiaries under the National Food Security Act besides one component (FPS Automation), which was still pending. He encouraged the department to complete it at the earliest.
DK Gupta also reiterated that as per a Supreme Court Order, it is compulsory for all beneficiaries availing subsidized food grain in Nagaland and across the country to seed their ration cards with Aadhaar on or before March 31, 2019.
DIO, NIC, Dimapur, Lipok disclosed that presently Nagaland covers 2,84,934 ration cards with 1401378 beneficiaries.
He said that Targetted Public Distribution system (TPDS) has been computerized with an application developed by NIC in order to meet the challenges of timely procurement and distribution of foodgrains.
With the launch of SCM, he said it would ensure stock position information of all the storage facilities in the State as well as track movement of grains. Lipok also said SCM would be a powerful instrument to the department for effective decision making and ensure timely distribution of Food grains to the beneficiaries.
It may be mentioned that a three-member team led by DK Gupta, Kumaran from Central Project Management, Delhi and Sumit from NIC Delhi in collaboration with NIC Dimapur, successfully developed the SCM application.
