Reports of Assam Rifles civic action programs from across Nagaland

Assam Rifles (AR), the oldest para-military force of India, has been conducting a series of activities across Nagaland to help elevate the lives of local people and to improve civil and para-military relations. Following are some reports of activities conducted by different battalions of Assam Rifles.
Tuensang battalion conducts medical camp: Tuensang Battalion of Assam Rifles conducted a medical camp on January 31, at Yanching Village, Longleng.
A press release from AR Tuensang battalion stated that the aim of the medical camp was to provide free medical treatment to local residents of remote areas devoid of requisite medical facilities.
A specially constituted medical team under two Medical Officers treated 147 patients to include 83 males 46 females and 18 children. Free medicines were provided to the ailing. Apart from medical assistance, basic awareness on epidemic diseases including precautions was also imparted.
Kiphire Battalion Lecture on Clean and Green Nagaland: Kiphire Battalion of Assam Rifles under the aegis of HQ IGAR (N) organised a lecture on “Clean and Green Nagaland” on January 15 at Longmatre. According to PRO HQ IGAR (N), the lecture covered benefits of hygiene and santition for health and for the society. 18 residents, including GBs, attended the lecture.
Kiphire Battalion Lecture on staying fit and healthy: Kiphire Battalion of Assam Rifles under the aegis of HQ IGAR (North) also organised a lecture on the topic “Stay Fit, Stay Healthy” in Anatongre on January 15.
According to PRO HQ IGAR (N), the lecture covered the importance of a healthy diet and the benefits of staying fit. The participants were also made aware of diseases, common among those with unhealthy lifestyles.
Shamator Battalion free medical camp: Shamator Battalion (45 Assam Rifles) conducted a free medical camp at Shamator, Tuensang district on January 8.
According to PRO HQ IGAR (N), the medical camp was organized to provide free medical treatment to local residents of remote areas devoid of requisite medical facilities. A specially constituted medical team under the regimental medical officer treated 207 patients. Free medicines were provided to the ailing. Apart from medical assistance, basic awareness on HIV and AIDS and ill effects of drugs was imparted.
Kiphire and Phek Battalions lecture on Free Movement Regime: Kiphire and Phek Battalions of Assam Rifles, under the aegis of HQ IGAR (N), organized lectures on the topic “Free Movement Regime” in Pungro and Avangkhu on January 7 and 8 respectively.
According to a press release by Assam Rifles, the aim of the lectures were to spread awareness about rules and regulations of the Free Movement Regime. Free Move Regime Policy was explained to local residents in detail. The policy provides that citizens of India and Myanmar, holding valid border passes issued by competent authorities, are permitted entry and stay within 16 kms on either sides of the Indo-Myanmar Border for a maximum period of 72 hours. 55 residents attended the lecture.
Tizit Battalion medical camp in New Jaboka: Tizit Battalion of Assam Rifles conducted a medical camp at New Jaboka, Mon on January 6. According to PRO HQ IGAR (N), the aim of the medical camp was to provide medical assistance to residents of New Jaboka and adjoining villages.
A total of 221 patients were examined and treated. Free medicines were also given as needed to patients.
