DNK GHSS gets new building

Dr. Neilhouzhü Kire Government Higher Secondary School (DNK GHSS), Seikhazou, Kohima inaugurated its school building constructed under school strengthening programme by RMSA on Tuesday, by the principal director School Education Shanavas.

Speaking at the brief function held at the new building, Shanavas acknowledged the faculty members for maintaining cleanliness in the school. He reminded that Samagra Shiksha can only provide infrastructure and to fulfill the purpose of having proper infrastructure depends on the school authority. He added that teachers should not wait for the government to come forward but must be involved in building the students.

Shanavas insisted that the library should be well maintained and advocated that anybody can contribute books to the library and also advised the students that library and laboratory should be used to the maximum else it will gradually get shut down. Further Shanavas appealed the students to have the healthy competitive spirit and not remain confined within the state itself but should explore so that one day they can return and give back to society what they have learnt.

Joint mission director Samagra Shiksha Dr. Kevi Rio in his brief address appealed the school authority and the school management development committee (SMDC) to maintain the building and to use for educational purpose. He also reminded that there are many programmes in pipeline however it will not be achieved without the community participation.

SMDC member Abao Kire said Dr. N. Kire GHSS was one of the most progressive schools in the state and congratulated the school authority and the department for their constant support and effort to uplift the school. He also requested the principal director to direct the district administration of various districts to have more interaction with the SMDC so that innovative ideas will be evolved for the improvement of the school.

Principal Dr. N Kire GHSS Dr. Bijano Murry in her introductory note stated that the science lab aimed at providing hands on experience in Maths and Science by using the numerous Teaching Learning Materials (TLM) provided by the department.

Also she said it was a basic lab which still needed to be upgraded but expressed that the students and teachers will have a better perspective and positive attitude in the process of teaching and learning of Science and Maths. She also expressed gratitude to the former Education advisor Tokheho Yepthomi through whose generous contribution, the library could take shape. Murry exuded confidence to inculcate reading habit among the students as a means to channelize their energy and time in a positive way. She also made general appeal for donations of old books to add in the school library.

Faculty members, officials from the School Education department, KVSU, SMDC and others attended the event.
