
Kohima Educational Society (KET) organized a workshop for new and aspiring Naga writers with prominent writers and journalists as resource persons at Hotel Ura Kohima on Thursday.
Writer, journalist and owner of pen Thrill Publications Kohima Vishü Rita Krocha in her speech on “publishing in Nagaland: my experience” said she ventured into publishing without knowing many of the risks involved.
She also shared her own experiences during the initial stage where she had to face many challenges. She further said that the greatest challenge in publishing books in Nagaland was lack of readership.
Editor Nagaland Today, Bano Haralu spoke on “Interpreting the role of writers/journalists in Naga society today”, where she said that newspapers and community needed to have more connection to express public views and opinions especially of the far flung areas.
She also shared the challenges of electronic media in Nagaland and North East which she said has become an expensive affairs to give coverage coming from outside.
Senior Journalist and editor North East press service (NEPS) Oken Jeet Sandham in his speech on “writing in Nagaland: my experience” shared about his journey in the field of journalism and writing books.
Editor and publisher Imphal Free Press, Pradip Phanjoubam spoke on “different styles of writing: Eg. Western and India styles”.
On day-two (Friday), various speakers like authors and publishers will be sharing their experiences.
The programme was chaired by Charles Chasie KES member and attended by students, writers, and others.
