
In its attempt to ensure reaching of government’s beneficiary schemes to all children without any wastage and misuse, Department of School Education (DoSE) Nagaland has introduced an innovative way in the distribution of Mid Day Meals (MDM) ration and cooking cost to all schools within the state.
In a notification issued on February 3, 2020, the principal director of school education, Shanavas C, informed that the department would issue posters displaying details of food grains and cooking cost distributed to each school covered under the MDM scheme for each quarter.
The principal director has directed head of institutions of all government schools to display those posters prominently within the school campus throughout the quarter.
The poster also displays a helpline number (6009256788) to which public can send complaints through SMS/WhatsApp if they come across any misuse of the scheme.
The principal director requested all responsible including school authorities, teachers, parents, student unions, NGOs and well wishers to extend support and cooperation to the initiative, saying the success of the programme depended on the constructive involvement of the society in the functioning of government schools. Meanwhile, the principal has notified all the senior SDEOs/SDEOs that Mid Day Meal (MDM) scheme entitlements for the students would have to be displayed on the school notice board every day.
The principal director also informed that the poster would be issued to all the SDEOs every quarter for distribution school wise. Posters for January 2020-March 2020 quarter have been issued for immediate distribution to the schools.
The principal director cautioned that necessary action would be taken against the principal/headmaster/head teacher/teacher in charge of schools found not displaying the poster on the school notice board during inspection.
It has been informed that quarterly fund release of cooking cost and distribution of food grains to schools would be also available in the website education.nagaland.gov.in.
