In a huge relief to the administration, Mon deputy commissioner (DC), superintendent of police (SP) and the barber who gave haircut to both the senior district officials tested negative for COVID-19. The rest results were received on Sunday afternoon.
Samples of Mon chief medical officer (CMO) and additional SP too will be tested in a day or two.
Exercising abundant precaution, the DC, SP and CMO went into self-isolation after the three had haircuts from the same barber who came in contact with a policeman, who later tested positive.
The additional SP too went into self-isolation after one of his house guards tested positive.
Speaking to Nagaland Post, DC Thaveseelan K said investigation was on to find out how the policeman got infected, adding that the focus at the moment was on contact tracing and containment. According to the DC, almost 1,000 tests had been done, including on TrueNat machine, out of which 38 had come positive, including nine police personnel.
Thaveseelan said more samples of returnees would be tested in the next seven days, and only after they test negative, they would be allowed to go home.
Further, he informed this correspondent that the tests would be conducted for the entire residents in containment zones, family members of the police personnel, shopkeepers where the policemen who tested positive came in contact with, NST bus drivers and petrol pump employees.
