Edn should strengthen society: Guv

Governor of Nagaland P. B. Acharya held a discussion with government teachers, students and managing committee representatives at Durbar Hall, Raj Bhavan Kohima on December 11. 
According to PRO Raj Bhavan, Acharya stated that government schools have the responsibility to strengthen the society and should impart proper and quality education to the students. Governor also felt the need to introduce skill based courses for all round development and employment for the students to be prepared as future entrepreneurs.
Acharya called on the students to respect their teachers, to give back to their school once they passed out and not to be self centred. He also encouraged the managing committee representatives to visit the schools in order to understand the problems faced by the students and teachers. He also suggested the representatives to think about public private partnership (PPP) for the development of their respective school. 
Governor while interacting with teachers said that education should open the minds of the students to strengthen the society. He called on the schools to have a library and to subscribe to the newspapers in order to improve the GK of the students. He also mentioned that school should also have proper toilets.     
Acharya also reaffirmed that mid day meals at schools should be implemented without fail and students should not be deprived of their rights. He called on the managing committee members and faculty to implement the mid day meal scheme in their respective school appropriately. 
Altogether seven government schools along with teachers, students and managing committee representatives from in and around Kohima attended the meeting at Raj Bhavan.
